more fun than an empty pool

22405_674

summer has actually come to Portland-right on time, with it being the first week of summer. Sadie needed some skirts, so she got some. I sewed these up super fast (I love you , serger!) out of fabric that I was saving for skirts for me. . .

22405_676

so, you may see mama and Sadie matching skirts here real soon, but I can't promise anything. Maybe baby Delia will get a matching hat too? or something else-must think .

on another crafting note-this book put out by rowan about 2 years ago is really swell. It features home interiors craft projects using Kaffe's line of fabric (remember him? before Amy Butler?) and I saw it here,at the link above, for $3.98!!! well-I paid a bit more for it than that, and it was worth every penny. Nothing earth shattering, just nice projects using nice fabric-very worth $3.98 (this place has a TON of cheap books-and a good kids selection too)

Clowes_200

also, Daniel Clowes, my favorite comic artist of all time, (Chris Ware is #2) was interviewed on Fresh Air today. He has a new book out that I need to get pronto and the interview was good, but I wish it had been longer.

And, lastly, I have added a bunch of new posts to Tie One On, including a vintage apron sewing pattern photo gallery. I am very excited about this, so please take a peek. The "Home on the Range" apron submissions are due by the last day of June (next Thursday) I will post the new theme on Friday and hopefully get the apron gallery up by the following week (although we are expecting a new niece or nephew next Friday, very excited!!!-so there may be a slight delay)

Aw...sweet, sweet skirts. And of course, sweet sweet Sadie. Yay for summer! And thanks for that Rowan book link, of course I needed to order that and, um, a few others. Enjoy another summer day, hopefully!!

Do I detect the jump-stomp going on in that top photo? Summer skirts can do that, especially ones mommie makes...

those skirts are so cute. I only have one girl and she wants to be a tomboy right now. last year all she wanted was summer dresses. this year, jeans and t-shirts with monkeys on them. who knows what it will be next year.
I love the tie one on site. what a great idea! I am working on mine today...

I have the 2nd Rowan living book and i love it. I also love those cute little skirts, kids stuff is such fun to make, yes?

so what you're telling me is that i need to get a serger, huh? those skirts are very cute, i think you should make delia a matching halter that ties behind the neck like a kerchief! supercute! i heard the interview with clowes too, it was so interesting, looking forward to seeing his new movie in the future.

I LOVE those skirts. I need to make some for my daughter, but I do not have a serger. Still, you have inspired me to try anyway. I also adore the "Tie One On" site, and I really hope I get the chance to try my hand at it this month. If not, I will certainly get to it next month.

those skirts are super cute and sweet!!! i want i want i want!!!

Yes, I just bought the Rowan book yesterday on Amazon and it was only $1.39.

I love those skirts!

Thanks for the book link. The skirts are cute! I love making children's clothes- you can get so creative. Love the Tie One On idea, too.
