the wee box-that wasn't small
okay-so you may remember I got this box last week-

and the contents were of the"screaming and jumping up and down can't believe it!!!" variety. Of course, there is judy in all her glory (sadie hasn't met her yet, and may not for a bit) and the apple basket bag. I could go on and on here about seeing hillary's work in person vs. over the internet, but for the sake of brevity, I'll just say that although she takes a mean photo, it really can't do her workmanship justice. Really amazing to own these-thank you thank you!
she also tucked in so many other goodies. Her ability to pick out the exact things I would LOVE was uncanny.
hillary also sent a wee for grammie! here grammie is opening it-and was thrilled, as was pete to get his 'zine (snakepit) which is now stashed in the depths of his "office/guitar room" otherwise I'd show it-
This is from a freaky vintage doll making book she tucked in and I need to make these right away. wow.
my own wee pin cushion, cool postcards, and holly cow, can you believe that cape pattern?? yes, you will be seeing this made up for miss sadie and delia very soon. I love this style hood too, as you can see here. . .
two aprons, lovely patchwork with rick-rack and the degas ballerinas on organdy-
vintage dress for delia and top for sadie! Wow. It almost feels silly trying to express how much this all means to me. A lot. A whole heck of a lot. Hooray for web friends, the internet, and the generosity of such talented people out there. I do strongly believe in web karma and hillary has it in spades. thank you so much, my friend!

oh how cool! It's so exciting to see what's in the box! What a wonderful mail! :D

Oh my gosh!!!!! I have that same exact freaky vintage doll book. My grandmother passed down some of her old books to me, if it isn't the same book it has those exact dolls in it. The name of the book is "Cherished Dolls to Make For Fun".

I have that exact cape pattern! The cape I made from it has been passed down through the years and the girls have all enjoyed dressing up like little red riding hood at halloween. Your "basket of goodies" from Hillary is amazing, I want a swap friend like that!!

such a great package. Hillary seems like a very sweet person. and the things she makes are amazing. I couldn't imagine what would happen if we put the two of you together in a design studio for a few hours!

yay! I'm so happy you liked everything. It was too much fun choosing things to send to you and your family. I just wish we could hit Quimby's and the thriftstores together! xxoo

My wee pincushion is Edith, and Hillary knows how honored I am to have her join me in my sewing room. When I despair over the seemingly endless supply of terrorists in Egypt and London and elsewhere killing themselves and others, I am especially grateful for the generous actions of people like Hillary and so many of you I have met on Amy's blog. May we all pay it forward.

You two have got to meet up, that's all there is to it! Do like alternating years, one year in Chicago, next year in Portland. I think you should start planning now!

I envy you Apple Basket Bag. It's so pretty!

I think I had that dress/cape combo from the pattern! Can you tell what year it was? It looks so familiar, the picture...
When I was young, my mother made lots of my 'special' outfits. That one would have been for Easter..I think I was 6 or 7 maybe? Could have been 8...
Yellow dress, yellow and purple checked cape. She left the hood off. I sat the entire Mass with my hands folded primly in my lap, paying attention and feeling oh, so glamorous. My mother said - if I had known all it would take to keep you still was a CAPE...

Hey, I just bought that 'Snowmonkeys' book last week. I loved the illustrations, and even my hard-to-impress boyfriend enjoyed it.

Oh my gosh...that Degas apron....I am so wickedly jealous. How come I see so many different people exchanging packages all the time? What's it all about? It seems like more that just birthdays. Hillary is one good gift giver--I'm impressed.
