yummies.

easiest shortbread cookies ever

1 stick butter-soft
1 cup flour
1/3 powdered sugar
big handful chocolate chips (or what ever you want to put in there)

mix it all up, the mixture will be really dry and crumbly, and dump into a 8 " ungreased round cake pan (or whatever you have) and use the back of a measuring spoon to flatten it down.  Bake at 300 degrees for about 30 min. cut into wedges while warm, let cool and then take out with a spatula. **variation on cookies in everyday food #6

I would show a photo, but these got boxed up right away and is tucked in the package for the birthday girl, whose actual b-day is today. Thanks for being so amazing and enjoy your gift and your cookies! (you don't have to share.)

NO Eggs!!!
Thanks so much for this cookie recipes. My son is very allergic to eggs. He can take one bit of something with eggs in them an his neck starts hurting. Cookie recipes with eggs are not that easy to come by. I'll be trying this one over the weekend. Thanks You.

hey!! that's absolutely fantastic. is your temperature in fahrenheit or celsius? =)

oh! it's fahrenheit

Yum! I always wondered what measurement a "stick" of butter was (a 1/2 cup). I found a trusty butter converter (!!): http://www.ochef.com/837.htm

Thank you, thank you for this recipe. My husband and I have been doing tea together every saturday afternoon for about two months now...i'm getting a little sick of my standby shortcakes recipe that i make each week...this will be perfect!

i am on a baking strike until valentine's day, but these sound like a must try... thanks for the recipe.

(and thanks to Jen for the butter quantity conversion)

Amy, I've been enjoying your blog for so long now and have yet to comment...now is the time! I made these amazingly easy and delicious cookies yesterday, and took them to a party last night for sharing. Everyone loved them! People kept stopping me on my way out the door for the recipe! Thanks for sharing such a lovely blog with all of us. It is always a delightful pleasure to read.

I just made these... THEY ARE DELICIOUS! I could eat it all day!! I was too lazy to go to the store, so I tried making it with 'all purpose baking' stuff... um. no. tasted like a salt lick.
So... hubby went off to the store and came home with flour (how do you run out of flour???) and.. 30 mins later.. delish!! I can't wait for after dinner to have another helping... or three!

Thanks so much for sharing this recipe. I have made two batches and my family is raving. I love your blog and am a big fan.

just made these today and shared some with maria. they were yummy. yuuuuumy. thanks for passing on the recipe!! You rock.
