better. . .
we are feeling better around here-thank you all so much for you sweet well wishes. It really made us feel better! I won't go into details, but this bug was bad. in that way. you know, so I can't tell you how happy I am we are up and running again.
I got a surprise package from Sally on Saturday and holy mary and joseph-this book, among so many wonderful things, were inside. Wow!! Thank you so much Sally! She tucked in the sweetest hello/get-well card and stationary and gift tags she designed herself-so nice. I almost started crying! These patchwork coasters saved me yesterday-I started some immediately, which took my mind of the nausea, and boy, um, inset corners are hard. Yeah, I had that "I'm not a real quilter" moment. You can see the result here-not bad, but took a long time and I need to practice.
Sally blogged about this book here (more and different photos) I have converted these books for so long-why don't we have fabric here with more words? I think that's part of what makes these projects so cool. . .
Okay-this make me crazy-loco. The minimal style photo the with crazy patchworky runner (or mat, what should I call it?) so good. so very very very good. Gosh-this package was almost worth getting so sick for! (I am insane) thanks again sally!!

I'm glad you're feeling better-- just in time for a nice day! I went to Uwajimaya the other day. It had been a really long time and I was having little seizures getting through the bookstore. It was a little overwhelming (plus I had sam so that wasn't too smart) and basically had to leave because I didn't know where to even start on the craft books. These book posts are killing me softly.

I love the patchwork coasters. Would they be decorative only? I'd be too scared to use them.

I'm very glad that you are all feeling better. "Those kinds" of sicknesses are just the worst! Enjoy your new book, and for the record, I think your coaster looks lovely.

Ok, I am clueless about this book. It looks so great. It's Japanese? Is it from a series? Uhhh... help. Need. That. Book....

Glad you're better! I want you to know you just cost me a Yesasia order! I clicked right over when I saw the pictures you posted. A new Machine Made Patchworks book, I'm all over it. And yes, I too, love the same model, with a funky new look : )

My grandmother used the same pattern in this runner to make trivets. She cut each individual piece to fit around the top and sides of a coke bottle cap. Then she joined them together. Lot's of thread work underneath!

I really like how your coaster came out! I have no idea what an inset corner is, but it sounds hard. Anyway, that looks like a lovely book!

Dear Chicken, My daughter-in-law Heather Bailey, who we have nick named "The beautiful Heather, sent me to look at your work. I am most impressed with the delicacy of your embroideries. They remind me of the work of a child, perhaps a little girl who loved Little Women as much as I did. So fresh and light. Very heart warming. Thanks for being there. I am a new blogger, and a dollmaker. I would love to have you visit my sight and tell me what you think. I will be on the lookout for your work in Portland as i live in Vancouver. epb
