yellow with a bit of blue
While looking through all my back issues of MSL for Easter ideas I was completely struck by this ruffle spread-wow oh wow. These are from April 2001.
Oh, I want this room so bad. And it so won't ever happen. Pete officially has put the kibosh on girlie bedroom stuff. Thank god I have two girls I can inflict this on, because good lord, I love it so much! I want the matching beds for them just like this. Must do this quickly before they develop their own tastes (Joking. . . sort of.)
I should submit this as corners of my home. ha. Really, I want it to be a corner of my home! But, it's not even a part of a corner of my home. We do have the ducks.

A quick sketch to make me feel better, so I will stop obsessing. A quilt design? I'm not sure, I'm not real big on symmetry, but I had to get some of this yellow with blue out of my head. . .maybe it needs a ruffle and then I can breath easy.
Tie One On aprons are due soon (saturday) and my kingpod e-mail is down (hackers!!) so if you are having problems try this e-mail: matern(at)comcast(dot)net. thanks!

Ooooh very cute! I understand this desire to decorate their rooms before they get tom old to decide for themselves (although i know you were sort of joking). I don't even have kids and I plan their bedrooms. I imagine myself saying "okay pick your favorite color" and then surprising them with a re-do just so I can pick it all out myself. I am sure that plan will change though if I ever do have kids *smile*!!!
I hope all your quilty dreams come true!!

ha, that made me crack up, amy, because i am so with you on the girls room. it's a good thing i don't have children. it would be dangerous.

i had a yellow and blue moment this week too! :)
you always make me laugh... i love that!

So pretty. I have a little bit of girly stuff in the bedroom - as living with three males there is precious little of it about.
But then sometimes I just lose control and slip some girly stuff in the house. Shame that!

Love it. Yellow is such a happy color. And duckys are great! I bought some little yellow ducky shower curtain hooks at the thrift store, I have not a clue what to do with them but they were so so cute, couldn't pass them up.
And you better hurry on the girls room. Once they start wanting there own look, there is no turning back.

That little wall unit is adorable... if only my mess could look that good!
We're doing the baby's room right now and it's so hard when you don't know the sex. I desperately want to put up really girl curtains (pink, yellow and green daisies) but I know that I must stop myself!!

I've been enjoying your blog recently... can I ask what medium did you use for your yellow and blue sketch? and for that matter, your lovely banner? I used to have great fun creating patterns with a digital program called Painter, which is now defunct.. Of course there is guache and a brush too! Love your color and design sense..

Oh wow, those trimmings at the top are amazing!

"Must do this quickly before they develop their own tastes (Joking. . . sort of.)"
I let out a big unladylike laugh at that one and people stared but it was worth it because that was funny!
And those are lovely pictures.

I am liking ruffles a lot lately, and I'm really liking yellow and blue together like this. I am trying to discreetly inject some more "frill" in our house these days, hoping Peter won't notice. He has a definite opinion of what he likes and doesn't like. These men and their aversion to frill! Geez!

Wow, I want that to be a corner of my room too! I'm the only girly person in my household. I wonder how my two-year-old son would feel about those ruffles. Hmmm.....

When are husbands going to learn they have NO say in the decoration of the house? LOL make yours sit down and watch the episode of Northern Exposure where Shelley redecorates Holling's house and tell him "it could be so much worse".
The yellow and blue sketch looks just lovely. I hope you turn it into a quilt someday.
Sorry to hear about the hacker problem. My husband is an email security specialist, email me if you think he could help.

I'm with you on wanting girly rooms. I don't think my hubby would ever stand for anything floral in our bedroom. I did, however, take over my girls' room. I painted the walls a soft yellow and have bits of pink (from my yellow and pink obsession) and blue (from before we had our 2nd-just in case she was a boy). It all turns out to be kindof a cottage-y, shabby-chic,...thing. I would love matching iron beds and little painted chairs for their room. I'm sure by the time I get it exactly how I want it, my oldest will want to do something completely different. Wouldn't it be nice if their room was as tidy as that picture?

I see classic symptoms of spring fever rearing its pretty little head in your house. That's the room I wanted when I was little (sub in a canopy and a 12" black and white tv-- oh, and a mini fridge... I was obsessed with the idea of cool beverages at my bedside).

Oooh! I just love yellow and blue together, especially with all that crisp white furniture! Don't you wish you could just move into some of those magazine layout rooms? I know I do!

That is the perfect little girls' room. I had forgotton about that issue, now I must go find it.
I have tamed the florals a bit so my husband would feel a bit more at home in our bedroom. Fortunatly he is colorblind and has no idea that the majority of our room is pink.

Ack! My MSL's are still up in the attic and I keep meaning to find a good spot for them so that I can look through them like I used to. Now I want to get to this project even more!

I have two boys so I have no one to inflict my girly ruffley side onto (fortunate for my husband). He too would be putting the kibosh on the ruffles (so funny!!!)
Love your sketch. The colors and pattern are so beautifully pleasing to the eye!

LOVE the yellows and blues too! Your floral pattern is lovely. It would make gorgeous paper for scrapbooking!

Oh so very warm and lovely. Makes me think of how PSYCHED I was to sleep over at my grandma's, where everything was starched and quiet and beautiful.

i think we're all kinda guilty of it... i know i decorated my daughter's room - just the way i wanted :D
she can update to her preference when she's 10. until then - it's all MINE ... mwuuaahaaaha

I remember that ruffle story! ooh, it's been a while since I've spent some quality time with my MSL back issues. (that room is adorable, but my not-quite-3 daughter would demand to know what happened to the PINK, sigh.)

oh amy, you are too funny! That yellow is just so cheery and bright, and I love those pleated ruffles.
The sketch is just lovely. i love the yellow and blue combo.

Yeah, it's easter soon, can you belive it? And yellow everywhere there shall be! :-)

Oooh, so happy to hear our aprons aren't due until Saturday. I completed mine last night, but didn't have time to photograph it. I'm learning with this group taking a good photograph is nearly as important as good stitching. :)

I just love Martha. How great are those ruffles. I am loving the spring feeling with all that white and yellow and the sun is shining now too. oohh spring has sprung with this post.
