new sewing book for me.
I picked up this book over at Mariko's last week, Girly Style Wardrobe, ISBN978-4-579-11132-9 and am completely in love with every single pattern. It's the perfect mix of sweet, not too cute/not too serious, folksy, happy, and just plain ol' cool. The sizes are 100-140 cm (it's for young girls), so I will get a ton of use out of these patterns. Here's the cover-last I saw they only had 3 left, but I think are getting more soon (right?) edit* they are all sold out now-
perfect peasant blouse/smock type thing-
the hoodie and skirt! and the freaky boots! too flippin' cute.
This Julie Christie look kills me. I must make a faux fur hat this fall. I have to. Sadie saw this photo and flipped her lid. The funny thing is, she already wears her coonskin davey crockett hat all the time, so this look makes perfect sense to her. .
I have no idea if this book is available on yesasia, or other japanese craftbook haunts. It looks like you can buy it here on ebay for now also, if you are new to the whole Japanese Craft Book thing, you can find places to purchase at the wonderful Japanese Craft Book reference blog, Crafting Japanese, and I do think Superbuzzy will be getting more, so you can send them an e-mail. . . . now I need to get busy.

So fabulous! I can not wait to see the cute little outfits you make with this new book!! Hugs!

I have an extra copy of this book that I have listed on ebay. It is one of my favorites and the patterns go together very easily. Thanks for sharing! I can't wait to see how you make up these patterns...

Those clothes are too adorable, I wish my parents would have dressed me like that as a little girl (but alas I was stuck in the 80s trend!)

When I ordered mine it said there were only 3 left in stock (that was before I read your post.) I was shopping for fabric at the same time and it was disappearing out of my cart before I could click the purchase button!
I'm a little nervous about the patterns being in Japanese. I took Japanese in high school, I even have a notebook downstairs with Japanese in my handwriting, I just can't read a word of it!
All I remember is "ushi" is cow and "tegami" is letter... somehow I don't think that is going to help me.

That ebay seller mentioned/linked in the main text has re-added 10 available copies of this craft book.
There was mention about being able to read the japanese characters. I found a help guide for translating japanese words that may be helpful. http://mylittlemochi.typepad.com/my_little_mochi/japanese_craftbook_help/index.html

Its sad how excited I get when I see age appropriate clothing for kids. It's all too rare these days.

There's another one, girly style book (http://www.amazon.co.jp/girly-style-book―コーディネート・レッスン-曲田-有子/dp/4391133075/ref=sr_1_1/249-9599703-1772369?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1179398232&sr=8-1). I'm not sure if this is by the same author as this one is more of an inspirational book rather than patterns.

I so love that Sadie wears a coonskin. If you get a fur hat like that for next fall, you guys'll be like salt and pepper shakers. And we'll love that too!

I was wondering how large the sizes in this book go up to? My daughter wears a size 12 but I couldn't quite tell from the description how large the sizes go...
Posted by: Amber | May 18, 2007 at 08:22 AM
some answers!
the sizes are in 100-140 (metric) so just measure your daughter with the centimeter side of your tape-and the book is in all japanese, and I don't speak a bit, but the illos are clear and the constrution looks petty simple. . .

Hi all! Just found this blog recently and I love it- So inspirational! I've started sewing clothes for my children and just bought the girly style wardrobe book. As I start trying to decipher it- (not knowing any Japanese) does anyone have any clues for figuring out things like interfacing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best!
