gettin' bonnity
After a series of odd mishaps, user errors, and bad luck, The Bonnet pattern, (as originally published in Mailorder #2) is finally here! It comes in 3 sizes; baby, child and adult and is perfect for keeping little ears warm this fall. You can see photos of the bonnets made up over here on the flickr mailorder club. I find it especially thrilling to see so many adult sizes made up.
When I first designed this pattern, I never thought it would be so popular, but I also didn't realize how hard it is to find a basic, non-poofy, bonnet pattern. This is close fitting and very sweet--hope you like it!
Bonnets for everyone! You can get your very own pattern right here.

Thank you for the pattern. I don't sew..I can but I'm not very confident. I love your new header - it sparkles! Fun! Makes me want to read on.

I ordered one! It seems like the perfect thing to give along with a baby quilt.

I can't wait to get mine! I didn't know about mailorder or even craft blogging (!) when it originally came out, so I'm really excited to be able to try it now. Thanks for re-printing it.

Having had a beautiful fair skinned, redheaded daughter, I am a bonnet fan from way back (she's now 14 - and bonnet-less needless to say!). I have always wanted to start making bonnets and am actually quite surprised that I don't see small girls (at least) in them. They are definitely something - like a lot of things from days of yore - that just make sense. And they're darn cute too!

how cute...when I was a child my grandmother made my sisters and I bonnets to play in...we loved them! I love to see people still sewing them today...I know my daughter has hers and loves it as much as I did when I was younger.

I have been hoping and hoping that someday bonnets would make a come back! I'm a huge regency period fan, and bonnets are so practical! Bonnets are awesome in the summer for sun protection and in the winter for warmth. A bonnet saves your face from the harsh wind! I hope your pattern gets women going on this much neglected fashion accessory! I ordered my pattern right away to support bonnetmania!

When my little fair-complexioned (and nearly bald) second daughter was about a year old, I fashioned an on-the-spot bonnet for her which looked much like this one. Easy, cute and it kept her from burning. I like the ribbon trim you have put on this, Amy.

be careful of what you have wraught(sp). my daughter who is now a surgeon, mother of two small boys and now never wears a hat(except those funny ones in the OR)....but when she was 5 her grandmother gave her a hat like your pattern and she wore it literally everyday to school during kindergarten! i think she thought of it as her "thinking" cap!thanks for the sweet memory.

My daughter has been begging for a bonnet for two years, but I agree - most are too puffy. This pattern is perfect, I just bought one. Can't wait to try it out!
