happy thanksgiving!!

Gingercakesm

I started early today—gingerbread for breakfast. With whipped cream. Glorious. The recipe is from here, and I split the recipe between 2 8" rounds and froze one. It's perfect and not too sweet. This somehow makes it seem good for me. So, that is what I choose to believe.

Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful. —Buddha

I love that Buddha quote - what lovely sentiments for Thanksgiving! Have a happy one Amy!

Hum... This cake seems delicious...

Oh, how delicious. Happy thanksgiving!

Lovely sentiment with the Buddha quote. I've never heard it before. Love it. And I'm definitely going to try that gingerbread. What a delicious idea for breakfast. Happy Thanksgiving Amy.

perfect way to start the day :)
happy thanksgiving to you!

Gingerbread with cream - yum. What a lovely breakfast. Simple thoughtful quote too. Thanks indeed.

oh yum!....
we had roast pieces fried with potatoes slathered in minced garlic...
would have LOVED a piece of you cake to follow it down.
lovely picture too.

Thank you for the quote. You have no idea how that helped me with this day. Spending it alone, it was hard for me to find things to be thankful for.

The Gingerbread House in Avon NC sells gingerbread with whipped cream for breakfast- so it can't be that bad... :)
as my mom would always say about 'sweets' for breakfast- "..not much different than a donut!"

such a pretty photo! happy thanksgiving :)

Just wanted to thank you on this thanksgiving day for your inspirational and entertaining blog.

And for the gingerbread recipe.

I kind of wish we did Thanksgiving here in Australia, it sounds like such a wonderful holiday. I bought your beautiful book and I can't wait to try some of the projects. I'm one of those people who try to make up how to do things, which is fun but not always successful! I think your book will help me to have more success when I'm bending the rules :)

Pie for breakfast...my kind of reasoning.
Buddha quote...my kind of "grace." My MIL's eyes would have been wide as saucers if I had said it at dinner today. Luckily, someone else was chosen for grace.

THANK YOU. I REALLY needed to read something inspirational after today. This one, I'm afraid will go down as the worst Thanksgiving in my 38 years, giving thanks at the table spoken with gritted teeth and scowls. Awful, and so wrong. Future holidays can only be better. I'm quite certain that I will rise and be more thankful tomorrow morning.
Hope yours was nice and peaceful.
The cake is lovely too, but the tablecloth is AMAZING.

What a lovely quote for Thanksgiving - a reminder that we should be thankful for all that we have as well as for all that we don't. And what a great picture. I love that plate!

we don't celebrate thanksgiving over here, but happy thanksgiving to you!! =)

Looks yummy. My breakfast will be pumpkin pie and whipped cream.

I LOVE the vintage tablecloth and plate! Your pictures are always so great.

That looks delicious!

Gingerbread cake for breakfast...hum, sounds like me! Sounds like the day got a grand beginning. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

Happy Thanksgiving. And I love the quote... it sounds vaguely *Minnesotan!*... could be worse...

I like this quotation a lot! It can be applied to any day. I don't know if it's because Minnesota is near the Canadian border, but up here we always say that too, It could be worse, or "long ways from the heart" :) Happy thanksgiving.
Ps- I emailed Burts Bees and got a nice reply from the CEO, who assured me they will have complete control over their policies, and plan to remain all natural and cruelty free. Not sure if I should believe this or not, I tend to be somewhat naiive and take things at face value.

Your gingerbread was absolutely fantastic! i just made it last night. I had been craving it since I saw your post. Best to eat it warm from the oven! Thanks.
