someday I will make one.

Crochet1

Here's another book I recently picked up, again a Japanese craft book. ISBN978-4-277-49061-0. I have yet to try a project from a Japanese craft book, but I am game. There are diagrams in this book and it seems reasonable enough. It's more of a thick pamphlet, not a book—it was only $3.95. I love the big-trivet-for-your-hiney thing. If I had one I'd feel like I were sitting on the coolest hot pad ever.

Crochet2

I have to try it 'cause I can run to a local crochet expert if I get into trouble. The last time she helped me crochet I was very pregnant and mentally impaired. I promise to do better this time.

Okay, can't find this book online either, sorry. If anyone can, please post it in the comments. It's published by Ondori. Again, I get my books here in town, you can read all that info in my FAQ.

In keeping with my recent theme of pouring over books at night but not actually starting anything related to their contents, I have been spending way too much time over here at this wallet draining needlework bookshop, The Mad Samplar Books. Ouch. If you like used or rare books of the needlework variety, sorry in advance.

these are lovely
i remember an older auntie or grandmother having something similar to these...anyway, they are pretty, but not cushy, and in fact, they like to slip off the chair, and feel rather lumpy!
but still, they are pretty!

These are gorgeous!!! I'd love to make some of my very own too...

I think it's all a part of the creative process. We read, and browse, and just keep adding fuel to our "tank", and then one day, a fresh new idea just comes bubbling out!
Can't wait to see what your next one is.

Okay I'll make one if you do! I actually need chair cushions for EXACTLY the kind of chairs they show in the picture. Well, not as cool as those. The uncool version of those. But anyway.

Stop it with the book recommendations, I can go broke...LOL! Isn't there just toooo many good things out
there:-)

i spent 4 minutes and 20 seconds at that book site and am pretty sure it will bankrupt me.... a want to say thank you for the link but i am not so sure yet.

Amy,

The title is
かぎ針で編む毛糸の円座 きっかけ本

Here is the Ondori blurb about it from October 2007, when it was released:
http://www.ondori.co.jp/shomei/monthly/monthly200709.html

I also found it on Japanese bookstore BK1's website here:
http://www.bk1.jp/webap/user/SchBibList.do?keyword=9784277490610
You can also find it by searching for it on Kinokuniya and Amazon by the ISBN (9784277490610). I am not sure if it is out of print or just temporarily understocked at some of these bookstores.

I too am a fan of the small Ondori books -- bargain-priced, yet enough information to be inspiring.

they are so nice, i wish i could crotchet but i'm a knitter and find it really hard to get the hang of.
i seem to be having the same theme, i've been making lists of things to make and looking through my craft books for ideas but i've not actually made anything for a while. but you know what they say are being prepared and planning well!

Wow how cute are those! Hmm I am not crafty enough to preform such a task! They sure are cute!
♥Lisa

Those are very cool indeed!

Love the idea of a hiney doily! You've got to make one and show us!

so cool! I like the ones that look like a flower!

Ouch indeed! {thanks though...}

How fun are those?! I might have to dig out the crotchet hook....first I would need to find the book though. :)

Thanks for the link to the great book site.

I find myself also pouring over books and not accomplishing much. Sometimes I even feel like I have stolen them from the library since I have had them for so long.

Hi Amy,

This will seem totally random, since I don't think I've ever left you a comment before, but I've been reading your lovely blog for a couple of years now and have gotten some really wonderful ideas and inspiration.

Well, a friend memed me tonight (which is a first for me) and you're one of the only bloggers I know (and admire) with children. No sweat, of course, if you don't do it, but here are the rules in case you want to:

The Rules are:
Link to the person that tagged you
Post the rules on your blog
Share 6 non-important things/quirks about your kid
Tag at least three people at the end of your post and link to their blogs
Let each person know they've been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog
Let the fun begin!

Very best,
I.

'TRIVET FOR YOUR HINEY' Oh my gosh I laughed so hard at that! Thanks for the belly laugh! I think you have a marketing tool going on this idea!!!

I so can see one of those rugs by my front door! Love it...thanks for sharing!

This is off topic, but speaking of paper cutting...have you seen this etsy shop?

I thought of you!

I'm such a Japanese craft book junkie, you have to try them out! It's really easy to follow just don't be intimidated! I love the one you found with the altered clothes, I go to Japantown in San Francisco all the time and I've never seen that one, very cool!

^_^ Chase.

Those are just beautiful!! Also wanted to let you know that you're on my "homey inspirations" list on my blog!!!

:)
Kristin

What store did you buy it from? Maybe they can ship it...thanks!

the phrase "cool hot pad" is wonderful.

Ahhhh! Right after I read this I ordered 3 cross-stitch books from Mad Samplar! Although I would call myself a knitter and sewer, I must admit that in 7th grade, I was in Cross Stitch Club! I still have a soft spot for those little x's!

really lovely remind me of things my grandmother used too crochet, whe died many years ago, great nostalgia
