My middle child turned 6 about a week ago and requested a towering tree of cupcakes. I have been doing birthdays a little different this year and having the girls help me get ready for them rather than try to make it all a huge surprise. It's been so much more fun having them included and really helps me out. The other 2 girls went with Pete to get balloons and decorate the house and the birthday girl went to Michael's with me and got this cupcake stand (she was clutching the 40% coupon with such earnestness) and decorated the cupcakes the morning of her birthday herself. Then she and I had a special ice skating date and lunch at an old-timey diner, which was so wonderful. I frosted these first and she put on the sprinkles and 1 M&M on top (with the M side down, ha!) and was quite proud. It was a great day. I sewed her a nightgown and robe set for her birthday—more details on that soon.

- It's getting cold here! Just in time, the wool jersey legging tutorial will be up Monday. I am just finishing it now.
Thanks for all your extreme awesomeness with the many shoe suggestions. Sadly the Keen boots didn't fit, but now I have so many others to chose from with all your tips!
