I was running around Portland all last week showing off this lovely city by visiting countless bakeries (Pearl, Baker and Spice, Grand Central) restaurants (Gruner, Firehouse, The Observatory) parks (The Japanese Gardens, Tryon Creek) and there was also shopping (Cargo, Francis May, and countless others) There was also rollerskating, antique mall shopping, putting on a play, gelato, and a visit to Cacao, where these chocolate sardines were procured. I can't quite tell you why I fell for theses so hard. The delicious chocolate? The awesome metal tin? The fact that they look a lot like real sardines—which grosses me out? I think it's all three. You can order them also from Chocosphere online, if you can't make it to Cacao in person, but it looks like you can also call Cacao and order over the phone. The girls loved them. They were presented as a gift from our dear out of town guest, and now I need to get more.
In a weird interweb twist, I was working on a Polyvore outfit with Sadie and after seeing random accessories, these made their way into our outfit. Because they are fish. Made of chocolate. I have now decided it's important to accessorize with the food you would eat with an outfit, too. A flurry of really trashy food items are running through my head right now.
We also saw the new Werner Herzog, Cave of Forgotten Dreams, in 3D and I loved it. It was beautiful, funny, a little boring in a dreamy gentle way, and thought provoking.
