I made this dress for Lydia's fourth birthday. I used a silk/cotton (from Fabric Depot, I love this stuff and have made quite a few items from this fabric) and the trim is from the outdoor sale.
I didn't use a pattern—just drafted up a bodice and skirt (exactly like I did for her Cranberry Girl Dress) but this time for the skirt, I used the ruffler foot (using the pleating setting, like I did for Grammies scarf) instead of gathers and I am so happy with how elegant and easy it was. I also added little cap sleeves and an over skirt.
It's kind of a regal/folk/space princess look. Which I am really digging. Liddy seems to like it, but she got a haul this year, much of it new clothes—so far this hasn't been in heavy rotation, but I am not giving up hope. I am just moving it to the front of her closet often. Look at those bruises! Oh, she is an adventurous girl.
