I recently made the upsidedown plum cake for a little tea party (where the best strawberry lemonade was served) and although it's been a favorite recipe of mine for many years now, I made some changes and it was even better and much lighter, which is fabulous. It's 6-tablespoons-of-butter-lighter to be exact. I made the recipe the exact same way I always do (it's in the PDF recipe cheet sheet I link to in the post) but instead of using 4 TBL melted butter in the pan, I used 2 TBL. In the cake I reduced the 8 TBL of butter to 4TBL and then added a 1/4 cup applesauce. It was delicious.
Notes and such:
- The Tie One On aprons are due today, but I will take late ones all weekend. I will get the gallery up after the 4th of July and have a new theme announced by then. They are looking great!
- I am so curious about many of the books on this Summer Reading list compiled by Nancy Pearl. I have only heard of one of the titles before, Castle Waiting.
- I am having a lot of fun with working on my Retro Camping board on Pinterest. We are going camping in August, hopefully it will be summer here by then.
- I have only the last episode left of Downton Abbey and am so sad it will be over soon. I almost don't want to watch it so I can know I always have one left. It is so good and the costumes are so amazing that it's almost hard for me to pay attention to the dialog. I loved Gosford Park so much (same writer) and this has been such a treat to watch. Thanks to so many of you who suggested I check it out.
