make aprons to show and tell! every few months there is a different theme. you make the apron, e-mail me the photo (a jpeg) with your info (like a blog link), and then I will add it to the gallery at the end of the month. sound fun? yup!: please submit newly created aprons. not purchased or existing vintage ones.
holiday apron fun. I think she is a bit old for the bib? I really like the red and white stripe binding. I would do that if I thought I was going to make my own binding (which I am not) . . .**thanks woof nanny for the great link to this pattern, which is on ebay and expiring very soon, so I am not going to link to it.
here is my most recent favortie vintage find. I will show others soon,I have had really good luck lately. Great details like the colors (yellow and brown!) and the sweet binding on the edge and pockets. The pocket is actually a placket of sorts, so it's like a fancy kangaroo pocket, your hands can touch inside. also notice the CLEVER fabric detail on the ties, I have looped one tie over the hanger so you can see this sweet matching fabric.
here's the back. you can see here the ruffle and pocket piece are all concealed on the inside. very nice. This apron is small and sassy and short. I love her!
I have updated the vintage apron pattern photo gallery and I can't express how excited I am to have all these new images to get inspiration from. There are some real gems-please take a look when you have the time, they really are worthy of close inspection. The newly added vintage patterns are all for sale here, and boy are they expensive! So, I will be just using them as a starting point and making paper patterns myself-just from the illustrations. Again, the beauty of making aprons is they don't really have to fit all that well-because you just tie them on-so complicated darts, zippers, all that stuff goes by the waist-side (punny). I'm showing these because they all said "pink lemonade" to me in some way-and I have already been getting some submissions-they are beautiful! keep them coming!
I am very pleased to have found this site (thank you Barbara)-a great resource for vintage apron patterns (these are for sale, too) I have created a vintage pattern photo gallery (see my side bar) for your viewing pleasure. I absolutely LOVE vintage apron patterns. They are so full of amazing ideas.I actually own very few, and to be honest, have more fun just looking at these images and then making up the patterns from scratch-so this is a very exciting find for me. If any of you have vintage patterns, please let me know. I'd love to have this be a big resource for you vintage apron lovers out there.
Hello! Okay-I am so happy to start this new weblog. My hope is, along with being a place to see Tie One On submissions, this site can be a resource too-for both new and modern aprons. I'm planning to copy (or at least link to) all my apron related posts on angry chicken, and I'd love it if you all would send me links to your great apron posts as well. There are so many good ones out there. I got this amazing apron above from theresa (a chicken!! which is also a pocket!) for my birthday. Thank you soooo much. (Would it have killed me to use an iron?) Here are some others that came for my birthday too-
from erin, kay, and, stephanie thank you!! (please click to see the lovely details!)
And here's a great vintage pattern I just got. Dig the tic-tac-toe matching pot holders. I really love aprons with matching accessories. I think that will have to be a theme at some point.
