my favorite needlework store, the twining thread, happens to be at the beach and I always get all dreamy in there. I buy kits and supplies in this beach daze-where everything seems to move so slow and needlework projects seems to fit in my life. Like knitting projects (I haven't knitted in a year).
So this chart and silk thread came home with me. I love it so and have high hopes. I have never done counted cross stitch. I actually have never done any real needlework like this, just the freehand embroidery I do on my quilts and in crafts, etc. The advantage of my "primitive" style is it can look a bit dodgy and that's okay. So with this project I need to hone my skills. And learn some real techniques because any sloppy work on the back will show through the linen. . .and I plan (she said hopefully) to use many other stitches than just the "x" with this, hence the mailorder #3 needlestitch booklet project.. .
and some lovely felt came home. This is wool, from somewhere, I don't remember where now, but it seemed like a fancy place. They have so many colors at this shop it makes me go all nutty.
So, quilts and pie this week has turned into sewing another dress and ice cream cake. The dress is cut out and ready to sew, hopefully the zipper will behave this time, and the ice cream cake is for father's day and I am very exited. Pete stop reading now-it's a yellow cake with a layer of vanilla peanut butter ice cream in the middle. The frosting has yet to be decided on-I think it's needs some chocolate, so maybe just chocolate buttercream? not sure. . .and I have decided that for father's day I should get a massage. because really, it would be a gift for Pete to have me relaxed and happy, right?
