Yesterday was a long day. It was hot, there were lots of tears, hitting, some toy chucking, and general malaise. I had big plans to go to the lake with the 3 girls and my brother, but after realizing that getting dressed was going to be hard, we changed plans and made it to a coffee shop at 3:30. That's as close as we got to nature. . . but all day I was scheming about this new jumper for Sadie.
So when I got some time last night, I went for it, and am thrilled. Simple and playful can be hard and I think this balances it well. It's only 5 pieces -- the front and back, sleeves, and the tie. I will try to take a photo of Sadie wearing it, but it's not gonna happen right now, too crazy. I always double guess how girly to make Sadie's clothes. She's not really a girly girl, (Unlike Delia, who hasn't worn anything but a poofy dress for 9 months.) So this is perfect for her. Sadie did the artwork of course. Delia couldn't quite believe that Sadie got a new dress that she could draw on. Poor thing, hers will be next.
Details:
-The pattern is from this Japanese book here
-The jumper is made soft cotton denim (very slight stretch) and linen sleeves
-I had Sadie draw on it and then copied the drawing with machine free-motion quilting.
-It's hidden by the tie, but the jumper opening is behind the bow there, very clever design. I love this book sooooooo much.
