My birthday was wonderful. Pete and the girls made this amazing cake—a basic yellow cake with 1/2 cup almond meal (from Trader Joes) replacing a 1/2 cup of the regular flour and adding 1/4 tsp almond extract. With the chocolate espresso frosting—I was in heaven. The frosting recipe is from this cheat sheet. My amazing family came for a little shindig to help with much needed yard beautification and my mother-in-law brought the summer pudding. So very good. I just finished the last piece for breakfast. It rained, but not the whole time. And now I need to get off my sugar trip again. Thank god there is a ton of fruit in the house.
I received this little candle holder as well. I want 3 more now—I think the girls each need their own. Oh, and that guy we live with too, I guess he should have one—so make that 4.
