Hello old quilt I haven't seen in a long time!
I was e-mailed about this quilt of mine from about 4 years ago and the free-motion machine quilting pattern "hills" which I designed for this piece and was machine quilted by Tillie Studio.
This quilt, called Little Hills, appears in this book Simple Contemporary Quilts: Bold New Designs for the First-Time Quilter, by Valerie Van Arsdale Shrader. I was sad for this quilt realizing I had never shown it here on the blog, it's one of my favorite quilts. There is a chance I have shown it, but I don't think so. My archives are a mess. I suppose I could look through my blog books, but that would require getting up. Anyhoo, I am happy to show it now. I miss quilting! I think I need to start a new one. I haven't made a quilt since this one about 2 1/2 years ago.
This one I pieced with hand dyed fabrics and some printed ones, then machine appliqued the hills (in the polka-dot fabric) on top. I then added some free motion stitching in red, and some hand stitching as well—and then the whole top piece was machine quited (by Tillie Studio) with the swoopy hills/scallop pattern.
There is a free-motion quilt along over at A Few Scraps, and her inquiry about this quilt is what made me realize I had never shown it. Thanks for the e-mail, Christina!
Some random items:
- The Apple Cider aprons for Tie One On are due today. (But you know I will take them until this weekend.) Please take a peek at the book giveaway this time—it's a great one!
- Alicia is having a book signing here in Portland at Modern Domestic this Friday! See the details over here.
- How do I NOT get these tape dispensers shaped like donuts from Jet Pens? Tape is a hot commodity here (my middle child can make anything with it, I swear) so these are a must have.
