Thanks for all your great comments and thoughts on my last post. I realize I was having deep thoughts all week, (and plenty of shallow ones, too. Hello new lipstick!) because I also had a birthday. I turned 39 last Tuesday and as a gift for myself I made my own birthchart. It seemed a bit odd to make my own, but it was fun even though there were not many surprises. Except the lucky number was different than what I thought. 5? Really? So that will keep me on my toes. I sure love drawing these and have been so happy that they have been well received when people have ordered them.
Along with I'm-getting-older thoughts, I have also been thinking about summer plans and what I love to do. And what we as a family love to do. And then what we do that is not so fun, or isn't as fun as it used to be. Just letting go of some activities that we seem to be doing out of habit, or because that's what we do. I have asked all family members to think about this and report back, except the cats.
The perennial favorites—berry picking, swimming, going to the beach, these are still high on the awesome meter. But, for example, the local farmers' markets have been so overwhelming and crowded the last two summers they have started to feel obligatory and not fun, especially for the kids. I need to go alone, or just not make it a family event that we have to do. Also seeing live music as a family is super popular, but only if there is room and the opportunity to dance, not sit in chairs the whole time. So says the small people. Sounds good to me. I personally this summer would like to get out more and see shows in the evenings, without kids (remember when I used to do that?)
