We are going to a Black & White event in early November and the theme is the Golden Age of Hollywood, so I am trying to get somewhat prepared now. I was researching dresses (I think I am going to sew one after spending too much time looking at vintage ones online) and then was thinking about hair, make-up, etc. I don't want to try and look exactly like a Hollywood Starlet, but for inspiration, Hedy Lamarr floated to the top immediately. I love the 1940s look so much but have never been drawn to the severe look of Joan Crawford. These images make me so happy. The star crown kills me! And the details on that white dress. But really, there is no way I'm going to wear white, let alone sew with it. This sewing project could be fun, but also has potential disaster and stress written all over it—so I am also looking at a plan B, which I think I have in my closet already.
- Unrelated but no less exciting are the Preztel Shortbread Snackbars that I made out of the newest Martha magazine. They are terribly good. I got a little sick. The recipe isn't up on her site yet, but thanks to the internet, it's right here.
- And related to shortbread in that it makes me want to avoid it, I have been enjoying (is that the right word?) doing these intense 10 minute pilates sessions from Pop Pilates every morning. I do one for a different body area each morning, so I don't get to sore. Then I do some yoga. It's only 10 minutes! But dang, what a long 10 minutes it is.
