I knitted these little baby booties a couple weeks ago (and tucked them in a metal tin) to give a friend expecting a little girl very soon. All the details are on my Ravelry project page. I have been knitting more. I think I mentioned this. After I frogged my 3-year unfinished sweater I was finally able to start knitting again and readjust my expectations about what I can do. I realized small projects (very small) and quick, are my speed. These booties are made from that sweater yarn. I love the yarn! Good thing, since I have about 7 skeins of it. Many small projects have been started and finished in the last 2 months. I still have notions of trying something larger, like something very similar to this Eileen Fisher wrap, but I am going to pace myself and I have promised myself I won't even buy the yarn for it until after the holidays.
Thank you so much for the enthusiastic "yes" to making the matching santa dress for myself and maybe even a santa tunic for pete. We shall see. I'd love to, and just might, but I have some sewing projects that need to come first, like as of 2 hours ago, the two angel doll dresses I just volunteered to sew in the next 4 days for the girls' Nutcracker production they are in. Oh, it's heating up around here.
In the midst of all this I am reading The Marriage Plot: A Novel and am enjoying it a whole lot so far. I had read a bit too much about it a few months ago, so I couldn't get it right away, but then caved and bought it and I am so glad, despite being sick of seeing it reviewed about 100 times. I have read Middlesex (which I really liked and still think about often) but not The Virgin Suicides.
And the Tie One On gallery is up—please have a look!
