Someone (the person photographed) turns 40 today. I knitted this hat for him and it was the first time I knit with circular needles and then dbl pointed needles. I was so happy to have finally gotten over my circular needle issues and now I am smitten with them. The info is all here, and thanks to Knit Purl for (LYS) for recommending this amazing yarn. I put this hat on his head and photographed it, but wouldn't let him see it. So it will still be a surprise. Sort of. Because then I squealed and showed him how good the photo looked on the camera because in my excitement I had already forgotten it was a surprise. Then I told him to forget everything he just saw.*
When the 4-year-old last night asked him if he would look different in the morning, having turned 40 and all, he said "Yes, I will have a ponytail." Which I thought was pretty funny. Then we got a little worried she would believe him, you know how the 4-year olds are. Magical crazy.
Unrelated to all of this, yesterday I was struck by an arrow of shoe wantiness of the worst magnitude. These shoes (Swedish Hasbeens) are a mash-up of my two favorite things—clogs and vintage style. How did they do it? Oh, it hurts, they are so good. I will just stare at them. These are amazing. As are these. And these, possibly to most wearable of the group.
update-*Setting a new record for bad present giving and forgetfulness, I just asked him to look at this blog post, and he said he loved the hat, which I still hadn't given to him, so I ruined the surprise again! Amazing.
