I just finished Sadie's new fall coat, so similar to the one I made 2 years ago, at her request. (All the info is here). She loved that one, and wore it for 2 years, but it was getting a wee bit short in the arms, and I also wanted to sew her another because they are fun to make. She selected similar fabrics and then I made a matching purse. The last one I sewed in sweatshirt material, a cotton blended fleece, this one is all polar fleece. It's not favorite fabric to sew with, but it's cozy and was easy to buy the day I was out, so there you go. Winters here are so mild, the loose fit and lighter weight is just fine. There is plenty of room for sweaters underneath.
I just went back to look a the the coat from 2 years ago and I got a little wistful, and happy, and just emotional. She will turn 13 in a month. She looks the same, yet different. She is a creature of habit, much more so than her sisters, and yet I see her changing all the time. Thank god she still let's me smell her hair. I try to play it cool.
