I am thrilled to be starting a knitalong as of today. It's Bang Out a Sweater Knitalong by my two favorite knitting people in the whole world—Kay and Ann from Mason-Dixon knitting. It's my first KAL and I am starting a week early. I'm starting a week early because of the set up—swatching, finding my needles, and all that. It takes me a while to do this and I am also a slow knitter. I don't have a whole lot of regular knitting time. This sweater is supposed to be started and finished in the month of February, but I will be traveling for a week during that time and may or may not take this project. These are my justifications for starting early (Cheating?)
I started an Icelandic sweater two years ago, got about 1/16 into the project, and then it went into deep hibernation. So, I had all the yarn ready to go, pulled it all out today, bought the pattern and swatched already. I am blocking my swatch as I type this. Woot! There are projects in my head I want to try. I know this is referred to as a bucket list but I have never liked that term, I'm not sure why. Anyway, knitting an Icelandic sweater is in there, and also making a Baked Alaska.
Unrelated:
We just can't seem to kick the sick in the house. It seems like for 4 weeks someone has had a cough, or ear infection, or head cold of some kind. It's slowing us down, which I think is a good thing, actually.
I just finished Ongoingness: The End of a Diary and it was like nothing I have read before. I read it in two evenings, and am ready to read it again. It's short and powerful and made me have crazy dreams. I think the less I say about it the better. I didn't read anything about it before I read it and I'm glad for that.
