We revisited the French Revolution and a bit of Mozart this last month. We were inspired to do some craft projects having watched Marie Antoinette (2006), which we have seen many times. The costumes. The costumes. I love going through these themes again now that Lydia is getting older, it's pretty new to her and the older girls get to review and add to their knowledge. They remember the most amazing facts.
I was getting all crazy about making paper dolls, embellished with crepe paper and gold dresden trim. This resulted in a purchase from this wonderful shop for these goodies and a few other things were put in a cart as well. The boxes I had on hand and the images of dolls were just printed from the computer. The skirt is layers of crepe paper with a ball of tissue balled up inside for support. They worked really hard on these. Well, two of them did, my eldest hasn't been doing as much crafting related to what we are learning about. She does her own thing, mostly drawing manga during our art time, which is just fine. We started making Victorian era pieces after a bit (you can see one of the boxes in back is different) because a little Marie goes a long way.
Now I'm wanting to try crepe paper flowers. So that's on the list. I was side tracked this week with paint and spandex making dance skirts for the girls (I just put this on instagram) and will show more soon. Kind of a 180° from old-timey paper craft, but fabulous in its intergalatic way.
